EASTER 2008: Family Filled Day

In what has become Easter tradition, we started out the morning with my fam and visited Grandpa at Punchbowl Cemetery. After lunch at my mom’s, we went home for a nap (Daddy included). Then it was off to the in-laws for egg hunting and ham dinner. Oren “found” a lot of eggs, which were conveniently hidden in plain sight. She also took a walk with her two and four-legged cousins (Logan, Tehani, and their dog Junior… see video below). Dinner was great (but Daddy had a mean cold), and Oren ate well (she usually does in social situations).
And with that, another Easter is in the basket!

No, that’s not Japanese. It’s Oren speak for “please direct yourself towards an interior space”, in this case, Junior back into his doghouse.

OREN TURNS TWO: Aiea Blowout

Oren’s home turf was the site of an all day fiesta! Not only was there the traditional potluck (Waipahu’s own Taniokas), cake (a red velvet “masterpiece” by Daddy) and presents (wayyy too many presents), there was a pre-Easter celebration with some egg-dyeing (technically, they were already dead. Haha! Anyone?)
It’s really amazing how “grown-up” she is now. I love that she has such a personality now (in some cases, enough personality to warrant a timeout). Oren’s nimble, intelligent, artistic, beautiful, talkative, yet shy. Kinda reminds me of myself, actually. Nah, just kidding. We love you, baby… I mean, little girl! Now hurry up and turn 4 so we can go to Disneyworld…

She’s sung Happy Birthday to us. She’s blown out candles. But on her real birthday? Nah uh. That’s OK, though… do whatever you want, Oren. It’s your day!

End of an Era

After nearly 7 years at the Honolulu Star-Bulletin & MidWeek, I am moving on! Working there was a great experience – met a lot of talented people and made some great friends – but it was time to move on. It’s not quite over yet, as I have a couple more farewell lunches to go to this week (not to mention an entire case of Transformers boxes still under my desk). My parting gift? Well besides a lot of good luck wishes (and a fun D&B’s lunch), my co-workers chipped in to get me a VOX DA5 Digital Amp! So awesome.
I’m gonna miss everyone, but now I really have some motivation to keep in touch. Thanks again, everybody! STAY STRONG, SB!

Oren Smash!

An eclectic photoshoot to say the least… Oren slid on her headband and donned Daddy’s infamous Hulk Hands for a pre-bedtime ruckus.

Chinese New Year Revisted (For The First Time)

Sorry for the lack of photo updates. My site has been a bit buggy lately. Anyway, I’ve been able to get it to kinda work now (you still have to manually go to the Gallery tab above to see earlier pictures–the links in the blog aren’t working for previous posts), so here’s some pics from Chinese New Year a month ago.
